Should I enable acpi or not. Slackware64-current.

A couple of days ago after installing Slackware64-current, I've noticed that internet was running really slow. With the help of the forum, I found out the problem was not having DNS set up properly in /etc/resolv.conf.

In the same thread, a member gave me the advice to add a line referring to acpi apic in LILO. I did so and when I knew the problem was related to /etc/resolv and DNS, I took out the line from lilo.conf and left it as it was before.

The line I am talking about was:

Quote:
append="acpi=off noapic"
As far as I know, acpi has to do with energy managment of peripherals and makes more sense when using a notebook. APIC adds mor IRQs and better interrupt handling.

So, Should I add the line to lilo or not? What do you guys do?

Thanks to you all.

IMHO, turn on acpi and apic support unless you obviously have problem with them. The kernel shipped with slackware64-current is relatively new and we can expect a good compatibility with most of the hardware.
