shm mount problems

I recently got my ATI drivers installing and when I went to run fgl_glxgears I got the error:

FGLTexMgr: open of shared memory object failed (Function not implemented)
__FGLTexMgrCreateObject: __FGLTexMgrSHMmalloc failed!!!
fglX11AllocateManagedSurface: __FGLTexMgrCreateObject failed!!

I looked into the problem on google and found the solution here:

www.ati.com/support/infobase/4687.html

I then followed the instructions, however when I went to mount /dev/shm the error:

mount: unknown filesystem type 'tpmfs'

appeared. /dev/shm appears to be a simple directory and not a dev file. I would like to know how to properly mount /dev/shm and what I need to do it. I am running Slackware 10.1 with the default 2.4.29 kernel installed.

Thanks,
Mike
