This is my first post and I feel this may have been answered before, I just don't know the appropriate search terms, though I have tried

. I have two machines, one a desktop with a DVD burner but low capacity HD. The other is a laptop with a large HD but no DVD burner. Both are comfortable running Slack 10.2. The machines are both up and running well. The network is working and both machines are talking to each other. DVD burner works with k3b.

How can I burn a DVD image that is present on the laptop to the burner on the desktop? It is not possible to just transfer the image from the laptop HD to the desktop HD. I am wishing to make a backup for the laptop HD to DVD.

With both machines on a network - the easiest way would probably be to use the network file system (NFS).

The desktop would then be able to use the laptop HDD capacity (for other tasks too).
