I do not think that there is any kind of guarding of the information or the"true knowledge" about Slackware.
I think that Woodman is right, many who use Slackware, are "do-it-yourself" (DIY) people.
And, again, as mentioned before, Slackware is pretty much pure GNU/linux, so many general *nix guides have a lot of inofrmation.
I am DIY myself; I usually search for information myself (and yes, it takes time). I asked a few questions in this Forum, and got good answers. There is no guarding, do it yourself, or ask.
Nobody can say that it's a bad idea to have information organized well. But this is still free software and all that time and hosting space costs money. What's the incentive for Pat or anyone else to bust ass putting up huge info sites? Slackware is not about (nor are most Linux distros) Linux advocacy. If you want to use it, right on. If not, it doesn't matter. It's not like making somebody a customer is a priority. I think the free software world has really caused people to have whacked-out expectations. Pat could be and should be making huge money for the work he's done. So could a lot of other devs and distro maintainers, etc. But they don't. Now because we're used to getting so much for nothing, we think we should have the icing on the cake for nothing also. Ok, it's our job to document stuff and help each other out. We're it.
I know that Pat and all are busy and won't have time to maintain a site like that. I was merely suggesting a making a site like that. Not like a single person would have access to it. Like wikipedia, it would be freely editable by all registered users so everyone could contribute on making it. Even the smallest issues could be made into it to help others struggling with them like how to change X window manager "ln -s xinitrc.xfce xinitrc". Then all new and old slackers would have the page where to go and find out what how to do this and where they can also contribute their effort on building in.

Ok, but *why* could you do it in Gentoo with ease?
Gentoo CD's have support for LVM on the CD so I just create the partitions and start to install compared to slackwares make ram-disk copy and link files to make room for necessary packages and modules to get the support for LVM. Also instructions for this are scattered all over the net. I know there's a LVM HOW-TO wandering in the net but reading that is slow and painfull progress when your installing new system. Gentoo has entries about this on their documentation and on their wiki page which makes with the support included in the CD, very easy to do.

So start one up!

What did I say before. I just might, looking for a proper place and all as laptop isn't a viable solution for that.
