shall i delete a lost+found directory?

hello everyone,
I accidentally lost a file (and one of my cat lives in the process).
so i run :
Code:
reiserfsck --rebuild-tree -S -l /root/recovery.log /dev/md2
and all the deleted files found were placed under a lost+found dir.
I found my file and all is good, apart from 1 thing:

df returns double (almost) the used space on disk.
Is it safe now to delete the the folder lost+found? or only its contents?

thank you

you can't delete the folder, but if you really think you have no use for the contents, you can certainly nuke it. On your own head be it though...

well i removed the folder and it doesn't seem to have worked as i would expect it too:
after deletion of the contents, another folder (a downloads folder) of the system contains alot of files that I had already moved to other folders before christmas. most of these files&folders also exist in their destination locations.
I don't know if I have 'lost' any information (from this drive, I have backups) but at least the downloads folder is a mess now (again). any clue as to why did this happen?
