My PCMCIA card has an atheros chipset, and the explanations on the MadWiFi page and FAQ were spot-on.

And, if nothing else, check the HCL to see what others had to do to get your specific card working.

Happy WANning.

A 3rd vote for MadWiFi. Works great on my laptop with an Atheros-based PCMCIA card. The only thing to remember is to reinstall it every time you update the kernel (read: keep the source).
