You have to decide which one of the pc is the router then chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.ip_forward
do /etc/rc.d/rc.ip_forward start and see what happen

This is a first step for configure the pc to be a router, second is do a script for iptables, google for a script that suit your system, there are many for iptables

yea sbing, if you dont have a hub or router or some type of appliance to plug the cables in to youll need a crossover cable not a patch cable. Check if the nic's link lights come on when the 2 are connected.

if you do have a appliance to plug into or are using a crossover cable give some more info ... check out keefaz's post ... the other stuff is a little far down the road if you just having problems pinging another machine.
