I have DSL I like to setup a server in my home for linux. What software do I need to do this? The computer is a AMD 2400+ with 512mb of memory and 80gb and 40gb hard drive. I have a Linksys Wireless Access Point Router with 4-port switch.
What do you mean what software do you need with this? Well, depends on what your going to be serving out exactly. Apache most likely for web serving, Samba for fileserver to windows machines.. an FTP daemon if you want to setup FTP... and so on..
If your using Slackware, it will usualling come with 2 FTP server daemons, proftpd and wu-ftpd in which proftpd has the better track record. If you want more of a secure ftp server, go with vsftpd or sftpd, etc.
