Sensors

Hello.

This is my box:

Asus F2A85-V Pro
AMD A10-5800K APU
8GB + 8GB Crucial Ballistix DDR3 1600MHz (dual channel)
PSU Corsair GS600 600W
2TB 7200RPM Samsung HDD
250GB Samsung HDD
Slackware Linux 14.0

$ uname -a:

Linux compass 3.8.1-smp #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Mar 1 01:42:43 BRT 2013 i686 AMD A10-5800K APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux

$ sensors:

k10temp-pci-00c3
Adapter: PCI adapter
temp1: +14.5C (high = +70.0C)
(crit = +70.0C, hyst = +69.0C)

Running sensors-detect as root doesn't find a working sensor, unfortunately. Kernel 3.2.29 that comes with Slackware 14.0 doesn't load KMS, so I jumped to 3.7.5 and beyond until 3.8.1 which are working fine (no problems until now). When 3.9.0 comes out I'll try it too.

As you can see the temp1 value is wrong (I don't live in Siberia).

So his my CPU fan operating? Is it safe?

I'm not having problems of any sort, but I wonder if my CPU fan will have a shorter life span because of this.

compassnet.

The output of the sensors command defaults to Centigrade.

To get Fahrenheit do this: sensors -f
