SENDMAIL config error: mail loops back to me (MX problem?)

I've done a search in the archives and found material on this sunbject but nothing particualr to my configuration/problem.

I have a default version of sendmail installed with slackware 9.0, I can send mail to users locally and to completely different domains other than my domain. My host name is vci and domain name visualconceptsinc.com (vci.visualconceptsinc.com). There will be no users getting mail on this machine, I just need to send mail (for use with webapps, mailing lists and such).

So this machine is vci.visualconceptsinc.com but all mail for user@visualconceptsinc.com will be handled by our ISP. I seems as if when sending mail to user@visualconceptsinc.com sendmail aoppends .visualconceptsinc.com to the end of the recipient. Can anyone give me some tips??

returned mail:

I was having this problem too and never found out a good solution. I do have my Sendmail working perfectly right now though. I wrote a walkthrough of how I configured it, so you can look at that and see if there's any different in my setup and your's.

Here's the link to my walkthrough:

Why the hell are you digging up and responding to a 6 year old thread?

proft 01-16-2011 02:18 PM

Dive, have you ever considered that others in the future may read this thread searching for answers to similar problems? Your negativity is both unhelpful and unproductive.

ggemmill 06-21-2011 05:44 AM

I agree with proft. I've just googled this error, and this was top of the list.
