Seeking Help: installing Slackware over the internet
Ok this is what i have currently,I am trying to install slackware 10
I have a old laptop that only has a usb floopy drive.
A 800mhz cruso lifebook
I have downloaded the 5 floopy images and used rawrite to put em on floopies
basicapci
install-1
install-2
pcmcia
network
Everything is setup correct, i was able to partition the drive and set up the swap drive however at the installation from specific source, i do not see the option to allow the user to install via ftp?
Can some one please point me to some sort of resource or tell me where do i select the option of allowing slackware install to get the files from a ftp server or http server?
Slackware doesn't support FTP installation by default. There is a project here http://slackftp.sourceforge.net/ that aims to give you that ability. I never got it to work, though. I was in a similar situation and just ended up setting up an NFS server on my network and installing from there. It was awhile ago, so I'm sketchy on the details, but that should point you in the right direction.
the site provided its own version of install.2 and network drivers.
i substituted the 2 disk in and tried to mix it in with the orginal install disk. Well the install did not like that so no go for mixing the 2 desk in.
I really hope there is a feature for slackwre to install via ftp
