seamonkey-solibs on Slackware-12.2
 
I’m running Slackware-12.2 and try to keep my box up to date with slackpkg.

The last few security update from seamonkey shows two files that need to be updated:
seamonkey-2.0.7-i486-1_slack12.2.tgz
seamonkey-solibs-2.0.7-i486-1_slack12.2.tgz

If I look what is installed, only one package:
# ls -la /var/log/packages/seamonkey*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 68356 2010-09-28 22:33 /var/log/packages/seamonkey-2.0.8-i486-1_slack12.2

I looked back in all the slackware-security mails I have received, and seamonkey-solibs seems to be added with seamonkey-2.0.4, for which the security mail was send on April-5. I don’t see a recommendation to install seamonkey-solibs, and slackpkg will not update this packed, because it is not installed.
I also had a look at the following page to find some clues:

Should I install this packed manually?

It doesnt really matter if you do as the files included in seamonkey-solibs are part of the seamonkey package as well.

Thanks a lot. Indeed I had a look and all libs in Seamonkey-solibs are also in Seamonkey. A bit strange.

Its not that strange considering thats the case in all -solibs (and other suffix) packages in Slackware.

Just read the slack-desc file for that package:

seamonkey-solibs (Shared libraries from Seamonkey)

This package contains a subset of the shared libraries from Seamonkey
to provide runtime support for programs that require nss, nspr, and
js.  These libraries are used in programs like RPM and gxine, and can
be used in others.  This package is built from the Seamonkey sources
and is provided as a standalone runtime package for people who do not
want to install the entire seamonkey package (as for server use).

This package is runtime only.  The include files and other files for
development can be found in the seamonkey package.
