I'm getting an error when I run modprobe {mmc_core,mmc_block,sdhci}

Quote:
FATAL: Error inserting mmc_core (/lib/modules/2.6.37.6/kernel/drivers/mmc/core/mmc_core.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
Here is the DMESG error:

Quote:
[ 276.093946] mmc_core: Unknown parameter `mmc_block'

My fault, sorry for my short hand above
each of those should be on it's own line.
modprobe mmc_block
modprobe sdhci

mmc_block pulls in mmc_core, and sdhci also pulls in mmc_core, so there's no need to modprobe that.

OK, no more errors but the disk still has to be in on boot...the modprobe mmc_block & sdhci load but the actual sd card does not come up.

But this shows up in DMESG:

Quote:
[ 6.840749] sdhci: Secure Digital Host Controller Interface driver
[ 6.842619] sdhci: Copyright(c) Pierre Ossman
And farther down I see this:

Quote:
[ 7.140323] sdhci-pci 0000:0a:00.1: SDHCI controller found [197b:2382] (rev 0)
[ 7.142431] sdhci-pci 0000:0a:00.1: PCI INT A -> GSI 18 (level, low) -> IRQ 18
[ 7.144628] sdhci-pci 0000:0a:00.1: setting latency timer to 64
[ 7.144708] Registered led device: mmc0::
[ 7.144761] mmc0: SDHCI controller on PCI [0000:0a:00.1] using DMA
[ 7.146824] sdhci-pci 0000:0a:00.2: SDHCI controller found [197b:2381] (rev 0)
[ 7.148900] sdhci-pci 0000:0a:00.2: PCI INT A -> GSI 18 (level, low) -> IRQ 18
[ 7.151064] sdhci-pci 0000:0a:00.2: Refusing to bind to secondary interface.
[ 7.153126] sdhci-pci 0000:0a:00.2: PCI INT A disabled
Then this:

Quote:
[ 7.257175] mmc0: new SD card at address d5c3
And this:

Quote:
[ 7.617479] mmcblk0: mmc0:d5c3 SD02G 1.83 GiB
[ 7.621838] mmcblk0: p1
I could post the entire DMESG but that would be long and stupid : )

Going through some of that, it seems to be reader and/or card error, and some say it takes multiple inserts for the device to show up properly.

Also, another common issue reported was with multiple card reader devices, and needing to black list one of those.

Did this device as expected with previous Slackware versions?

[ 7.617479] mmcblk0: mmc0:d5c3 SD02G 1.83 GiB
Is interesting, as that shows the kernel found a ~2GiB drive, and should be in /proc/partitions?
