I've just recently installed slackware 12
and it's been giving me trouble from day 1.
It's not that i don't like it rough, but
i could use some help in getting stuff to work.
The worst problem are the script freezes,
netconfig freezes 3 out of 4 times.
Sometimes in the first screen, sometimes after several screens.
Midnight Commander(mc, not realy a script i guess) freezes everytime, right after running it.
Pkgtool too.
Most of shell script freeze every other run or so.
I'm able to change to another virtual console, login and kill the frozen script, but that doesn't help getting things done.
I have no idea where to start looking,
tho i suspect it might be a hardware prob.
Another strange thing is rc.inet1 (start/stop/anything) refusing to run claiming "no such command".
Are you sure you have a full installation? The last line of your post sounds like some files are missing (generally due to some packages not being installed), but I can't say for sure without the exact error message.
Otherwise, it could very well be hardware related, but there's really not enough information to offer a fair guess.
Couldn't post the log, had no way of moving it to a comp with an internet connection.
But it doesn't matter now, reinstalled from a fresh re-burn, on low speed. That solved the weird stuff.
