Screen Refresh during terminal/emacs key 'error'
 

I've only noticed it since I upgraded to Slackware 10 and I don't know if I can even adequately explain the problem but I'll try:

Every time I'm either in a terminal or in emacs within X-window, if I over-press a key (e.g. pressing backspace on the command line with no characters OR pressing PgUp in emacs while at the top of the page) I get a full screen refresh and it's gotten to the point where I just can't stand it anymore. Has anyone else experienced this problem and/or know of how I can fix it?
