screen blanks after 2.6.6 boots
hello, I've just built the 2.6.6 kernel so I could check out the
robustness (following kernel2.6.6 README instruction). It turns out when I reboot with the new kernel, after lilo initiation, the screen just go blank but harddisk keeps on spining. Is this because the kernel lack built-in frame buffer support which I suppose to include? Oh, one last newbie question. After the kernel compilation are these the ONLY 2 files I need to move to /boot ? 1. i386/boot/bzImage (rename to vmlinuz-ide-kernelversion) and 2. /linux/System.map (rename to System.map-ide-kernelverion) then create new sym-link files vmlinuz and System.map to link to the 2 above coresponding files. |
This has been extensively covered in this forum and others.
Here is a link to one of the posts: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...5&pagenumber=2 which worked for me. |
