scim foreign language can't type space when switching type mode 7/24/2015

I updated to slackware-current from 14.1 x64.
and previously scim typing in korean which was working fine
is not working any more. Can't type space when I switch
type mode to korean by pressing ctrl-space.

I was able to type korean fine but while in the korean
mode, if I press space bar, cursor does not advance, and
no space has been typed.

Does anyone using scim in slackware experience similar thing?
Is there fix? If not How would I notify slackware developer team?
Or patrick volkerding

I just tried to reproduce this, but it doesn't seem to happen for me. Spaces work just fine here.

Is it still happening for you?

Hmm, I'm afraid I'm no scim expert, so I have no idea what could go wrong here. All I did was test it in a clean vm environment of -current.
I used the Hangul module to verify it's working by trying to type in kwrite, and for me everything works just fine.

Do you use a different input module?

I used ibus from slackbuilds because scim didnt work.
I reconfirmed scim still not working by uninstall ibus and reinstall scim
Whats added package?

One more thing after install scim u need to set right korean setting in preference in
Scim. By default setting u can type but scim has strange type behavior

You can manually type

Code:
slackpkg install package-name
But install-new will only install newly added programs (which should almost never happen on stable releases), not install missing programs you decided to not install in the first place (if you decided to not install KDE, it won't try to install it).

For me, it seems to be related to GTK programs.

I can't type space in Chrome/Firefox,
but space works well in Konsole.

How did you set korean setting? To reproduce the error, I go to scim config, then IMEngine global setup, I only enable the first ko option under korean.

it's been months since I posted this, hoping for fix, I just freshly installed slackware and updated to current. still can't type space while in korean input mode

...Well, I'll try my best.

I have exactly the same problem, and it appears to be an issue with SCIM, since in my case, I'm running it on Arch.

I searched for help but got nowhere, so there was nothing for it but to roll back to the previous version, i.e. to go from 1.4.15 → 1.4.14 (I also had to roll back scim-m17n, etc. too). It worked for me on Arch, so presumably it'll work for you, too -- you say it was working already on 14.1, so I imagine it will.

The packages you need are here.

I'd guess you'd need to roll back scim, scim-hangul and scim-m17n.

Hope that helps. Good luck!
