sata.i - problem after reboot

I have downloaded sata.i iso disk (Slackware 10) and installed on /dev/sda1. After rebooting kernel panic - unable to mount root fs appears. When I boot again from this ISO and type
sata.i root=/dev/sda1 noinitrd ro
there is no problem- Slackware 10 started.
I other posts I have read that I have to use initrd script.
Shall I use?

did you make sure to install the sata.i kernel from the cd when it asked what kernel to install in yoru computer? i remember during the install it asked me to put in my second cd (which didn't have the sata.i on it) so that it could finish installing packages. then when it asked me for what kernel to use for my linux install, it wouldn't let me open up my cd drive to put in the 1st disc...i had to go into a different terminal and umount the cd and put in the cd with the sata kernel in it...from there i could install the sata kernel. hope i helped a bit

Thank you very much. This was the problem.
I have copied new bzImage into boot directory and Slackware succesfully runs.

is this a fresh install? are you trying to install slack onto an sata drive? actually, is slackware what you're trying to install? if so, what version?

sounds like you did the same thing aylov did... reboot your computer with the sata slackware cd, boot the cd with the root partition of your slack install, and then copy sata kernel into the boot directory. if this sounds a little too complicated, and you don't mind reinstalling, just boot up the cd like normal and run setup again. this time, though, after you're done installing all your packages, make sure the sata slackware cd is in there. if disc 2 is in there, and the cd drive won't open, open up another terminal (by holding alt+ctrl+f6, for example) and unmount the cd ('umount /dev/cdrom' or 'umount /dev/hdc1'). the cd will be ejectable after that, and you can insert your sata disk. after putting the sata in the cd drive, return to your first terminal (alt+ctrl+f1). when the screen comes up asking which kernel you'd like to isntall, make sure you choose sata.i. if you do not, you will get the same error you've been getting. hope this helps
