Hi ! I have a desktop running Linux and a laptop running a Win98SE. I have already shared my internet connection using 'iptables'. But now I want to share files between both. So i configured 'Samba' and started it. And 'Lisa' too. But when i type in the Konqueror's location box 'lan:/', all i see is a directory with my other machine's IP. And nothing more ! Anyone can help me here ?
Well, hi ! I worked in it and now i've already made it work. But only my Linux box can see my Windows box. Is there any way that i can make my Windows PC see my Linux PC ?
If nmbd run correctly on your linux system, you can do some configuration that help windows on network browsing :
The First way is to activate the wins server option of nmbd. To do this uncomment the following line in /etc/samba/smb.conf (or in the path where your smb.conf is stored) :
wins support = yes
If you choose to activate wins support on linux, don't forget to add the adresse of this one into your ip configuration (wins server).
The second way is to configure your lmhosts.sam file on the windows system. Add a line with the ip adresse of your linux system and his netbios name like that :
