running slmodemd as superuser a problem?

Is running slmodemd as superuser for my dial-up internet connection a security problem (even though I am logged in as user)?

Should not matter but you can a few things.
Change the permissions on the the slmodemd command to allow all to run it.
chmod 666 slmodemd

Change ownership and groupship on the command to yourself.
chown username slmodemd
chgrp username slmodemd

Add it to /etc/sudoers file like this. Requires to be editted using the command visudo.
username ALL=NOPASSWD: /true_location_to/slmodemd

Anyone of them and many other ways should work fine.
