running K3B in fluxbox

I'm running fluxbox 1.0 on slack 12.0 and I want to use K3B. I would rather not install all of kde so I'm wondering which dependencies I must install for k3b to run. Right now K3B seems to run fine with just kdelibs, but it whines about dbus and hal. Do I have to use dbus and hal? What purpose do they serve? Should I install anything else?

You can try using slackpkg. I think it does a dependency check, but I'm not 100% sure. The other way is to go ahead and install k3b by hand. Open a terminal, and type k3b. More than likely, it will fail to start and it will say that so and so package is missing. Go ahead and start installing everything that it asks until the program runs. Good luck!

slackpkg does not check for deps. I hate to answer questions like this because you are building somewhat of a custom system, or atleast I believe that you are. I have kdebase, kdelibs installed, everything works quite well. Dbus and HAL I recommend using, but that is a preference(and something you should read about if you are not using in Slackware).

here: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs...media/k3b.html

As you can see it will limit its functionality and then the point of using k3b becomes quite mute(atleast for me). If you are going the route I believe you are going, look for an alternative program for your burning activities(k3b is a bloated, but wonderful program).

Ah, thanks symatic. I wasn't sure about slackpkg checking dependencies.
