Hello, how can I to run another desktop environment different that I chose for default?. I tried with startx fluxbox and got this "xinit: connection to X server lost", and other times shows me "$DISPLAY error", only when I run with startkde doesn't give me problems, with fluxbox it gives me error. Also if I write "startx" gives me problems I must write "startxfce".
You can issue xwmconfig to use Slackware's own tool to select a different X environment. This will change the default window manager for the current user, and you'll be able to load your selection using the usual startx
Using this tool will automagically change your .xinit configs and etc to load the selected environment correctly, and you'll probably not have the errors you're currently having anymore
Ninja edit: When I said "change your .xinit configs and etc " I don't mean "etc" as in your etc folder, but as in the latin expression "et cetera" :-)
If you're starting your wm from the command line (init 3, startx), then to launch something other than the default, you have to put the individual wm's startup command in .xinitrc. eg, startfluxbox, startkde, startxfce4....
Otherwise, use xwmconfig (as root), as suggested above (the script can also be run from withing pkgtool)
