rsync help - read man pages

hey all, im trying to rsync some stuff from my xp comp to my slack server. but before i get into that, is there a way i can see that my rsync server is running ok? i added the r
Code:
rsync stream tcp nowait root /usr/bin/rsync rsync --daemon --config=/etc/rsyncd.conf
to the /etc/inetd.conf.
Code:
rsync 873/tcp
was already in the services file. when i try and connect to the server using cygwin im getting an rsync failed to connect ...connection refused (111). Anyone have any ideas, or i can give some more input. This is of course after i setup my rsyncd.conf and inputted the information into my rsync cmd.

Did you restart inetd? try
Code:
kill -HUP `pidof inetd`
see if you can telnet to the port from the linux machine itself.

Code:
telnet localhost 873
