Reverting to udev-054

I just upgraded udev to -062, and now I want to revert to -054, which was installed previously. However, I no longer have the udev-054-i486-3.tgz package, and it's not on the Slack 10.1 ftp site.

Isn't there a way to revert to the previously installed version of a tgz package short of reinstalling it (which is what I've normally done in the past)? I believe that a backup is created, but I wasn't clear on what to do to revert.

I'm surprised I haven't run into this before, but I've always kept a lot of older tgz packages around. In this case, I didn't.

Thanks.

Welp, I just found a copy of udev-054-i486-3.tgz tucked away on a mirror that hadn't been updated yet. FWIW, the mirror is at http://linux.jetstreamgames.co.nz/sl...nt/slackware/. For once, I'm grateful that not everybody has to be on the cutting edge.

Still, I'd like to know how to do the reversion technique that I suspect the package tools provide. Thanks.
