resolution problems

I have tried configuring x repeatedly, and by tweaking refresh rates manually, but I still can't get the resolution to come up correctly. I want to display at 1024x768 at 100Hz , but it will let me only do 70Hz , and the image is not correctly centered. My monitor is a Gateway VX700 , and the specs are Horizontal: 30-86 , Vertical: 50-130 , any ideas?

Having a 100Hz refresh rate is almost unheard of - I assume that's what you're referring to with the 100Hz. The best I've ever gotten using Windows was 85.

I would simply use the settings monitor buttons to correct that

No, its not unheard of. I can get 100Hz refresh in win2k pro. I have an ATI 7500Radeon, and my Gateway VX700 monitor is fairly recent. It is smart enough to not even try to display ranges it cannot handle, and in windows, It lets my monitor do refresh rates it can only handle, and hides rates it cannot do. The gateway VX700 monitor if im not mistaken, is really a Mitsubishi monitor , with a Gateway name slapped on it.

Well then best of luck - it looks like it now comes down to driver support for both devices.
