Request: New shadow in current

Have you guys been thinking about this by chance? I'm interested in using SHA512 instead of MD5/DES. OMG!, like.... that's so yesterday, ya' know? ;-)

We are halfway there with glibc-2.7..... Just waiting on a shadow upgrade....

Thanks.

BTW, 2.8/2.19/4.3.2 toolchain also looks to be rock solid. Kinda gives me that "gold" 2.3.6/2.16.1/3.4.6 feeling... Very, very minor issues with just a couple people not porting their code to 4.3.2 yet, but all in all, patching is almost non-existent... That and 4.4 is right around the corner... ;)

It's off the table for this one; maybe next time (but no promises, of course) :)

Interesting......

Not sure of the reason but then again it's none of my business. Will be easy enough to build myself when the next Slackware is released. What with the state of internet hackers everywhere you look, it's a good idea to move to more secure encryption on your user passwords.

MD5 is to WEP as SHA512 is to WPA2, but.....

Whateva'! I'll do what I want! <cartman> :)

Thanks for the heads up Robby.

Well, in all honesty, I think the "weaknesses" of md5 are a bit overstated - neither the "proof of concept" nor the math behind it have real-world implications.
