Put in slackware 12.1. used to have 12.0. Did not do an upgrade: did a clean install.
Can't send mail.
I use mutt for email, procmail for fetching/filtering the incoming mail. Those parts work.
I was using msmtp to to send mail. I'd queue messages and then they'd go to msmtp and from there on I didn't follow the process but the mail got to where it was going.
Near as I can tell (and google seems to back me on this) msmtp was taken out of slackware.
I could just go an build the package ... but I have been doing a lot of that the last few days. What if ... there is something already part of slackware 12.1 that will do the job that msmtp used to do?
Google searches on this matter brought up mentions of postfix, but I'mnot interested in printing. Also sendmail was mentioned, but the man page may indicates that this is for "local" email, between users on the same machine (pre-internet style?)?

msmtp has not been part of Slackware ever, if I recall correctly. At least not since release 8.1 (I used packages.slackware.it to verify this). There's a SlackBuild script here: http://slackbuilds.org/repository/12.1/network/msmtp/
