Removing icons from GNOME

I have some icons on my GNOME desktop that I would like to remove but I can't delete them I know when I had Mandrake I changed something from 100% to 75% and moved then and then went back to 100% anybody know where this? I can delete then cause they are like links to the windows and other stuff.

To change icon display size in gnome...
open a nautilus window and select "Edit" "Preferences" in the menu.
The first tab is Views. Change the Icon View Defaults to chabge the icon size...

To remove icons you must first hunt down the object the are linked to and "rm" that first....

This is how i did it 2 minutes ago,
1) run: gconf-editor
2) /apps/nautilus/desktop/
3) Look for the boxes which have ticks in them and remove the ticks where necessary

Done! ;)

(i know this reply is more than 2 years old, but i found this thread when googling and thought it'd be useful for others)
