remove the network manager applet tray icon

Hello,
I am running Slackware64-14.2. I have configured my network using the system configuration scripts and I do not need the network manager applet in the system tray. Is there a way to get rid of that icon?

I think it is related to the Plasma Networkmanagement module and the Nework Status, displayed in the System Settings -> Startup and Shutdown -> Service manager -> Startup Services, which are running. How can I permanently disable these services?

Thank you!

Best regards,
Martin

Hello,

right-click the triangle (at left of the horloge clock), then click "System tray settings" and uncheck "Network Management"

To disable NetworkManager, you can disable the startup script:

Code:
sh /etc/rc.d/rc.NetworkManager stop
chmod -x /etc/rc.d/rc.NetworkManager
the first line stops the service, the second disables the service from next bootups

you can start it manually whenever you want:

Code:
sh /etc/rc.d/rc.NetworkManager start

@phenixia2003: Thank you very much, that did the trick. It did not occur to me to right-click on that triangle. I always left-clicked.

Thank you all for your replies.

Best regards,
Martin

Unfortunately, that icon will show on the computer whether or not Network Manager is running. OP did already say that s/he is using the system configuration scripts, so it's not likely Network Manager was running or executable.
