Refresh without moving mouse

I just installed backtrack and noticed one strange thing. Although its based on Slackware I thought this is the right place to ask.

Talking about X. If I run ie. Kismet i see packets going up. If i don't move the mouse, the packets stand still. I waited 30 minutes and the both clock and the packets were frozen. When i moved the mouse the numbers changed.

How to disable that function? Or is that a function at all?

Sorry really sorry if I missed the forum/subforum

Thanks!
