redirecting X to windoze


Hi

Im in need of a little help with X. The problem is that im running PUTTY on a windows machine and using ssh to login to cli which is fine , but i cant figure out how to start x and redirect the output from the slack machine to the PUTTY program on windoze ..

mmm has anyone done this before? is it possible ?

i've done it, but by using utils like Xwin32 *i think*... anyways, they want money. i suppose you could get something running with cygwin, or something... but my experience with x/cygwin was    s    l     o     w...

point is, you need a display (x server) to redirect to running on win

XFree for cygwin can be used for XDMCP. I did it. So it should also be accessible by simply running xhost locally, and setting DISPLAY remotely.

You must install some X on your windows machine. Then you can use putty (activate X-Forwarding!!!!) to ssh your linux-machnie. Running a graphical programm, the programm itself is executed on Linux and the window is shown on your X in windows. there are some out there, but mostly not cheap. I think cygwin will do enough...
