The only dependency that I didn't fullfill was eMovix (I'm not real sure what it's purpose is) and I wasn't sure if that failed dependency was the preventing the previews, if I missed something, or this is just something that doesn't work for whatever reason in k3b-1.69. I've attached a screen capture to show what it was I'm looking at.
PS: Thanks to woodsman and everyone else that helped contribute to the two links posted above, as well as everyone that helped me get all these dependencies to build on multilib-current!
eMovix makes standalone bootable Video CDs (not necessarily VCDs ) It's a disc with a small Linux distro that runs live from the cd, whose only purpose is to playback the movie on the disc. Think of GeeXbox.
Honestly, there are much better solutions than K3B to rip a dvd. K3B doesn't have any options such as deinterlacing or detelecining the video footage. Handbrake and/or K9Copy are far better applications suited to do this. There's half a dozen or so other excellent programs, and maybe 50 more that mostly work.
About the previews - works for me on the main title, but not any others.
You can use the standard build script, but you'll probably need to use the USE_PATENTS switch. It's documented in the script. You may also want to use a different revision of mplayer as well. I changed the rXXXXX to yesterdays date according to this post.
Thanks. I don't know what was going on exactly, but rebuilding mplayer was a REAL problem. I tried new source, editing the slackbuild, patches for the slackbuild.........nothing would yield a working* package until I finally used the version in ponce's post form that thread. I used my edited slackbuild on that version too, so I don't know if it would have worked without the edits.
working* package= After ediitng the slackbuild, I was able to compile without errors repeatedly, and install the package. However there was no mplayer to be found on the system. I have no idea what that was all about.
