Recommendation for a new Video Card

I am about to buy a new video adapter and I want to know which one is better from people with experience. I am thinking to buy a GeForce FX 5200 128MB DDR or an Ati Radeon 9000 Pro. Which one is better?

Under Linux - Nvidia cards are generally better supported than ATI ones.

As I understand it in terms of pure frames per second the cards are similar - I'd take a 5200 Ultra over a 9000 pro - but a bog standard 5200 or a 9000 pro, it would be a closer call.

If your thinking solely in terms of Linux - I'd go with Nvidia
