Recieved quite a few errors during the install...

hey everyone,
I have just got my Slack Workstation running, and I have encountered some errors along the way.

During the install on disk 2 the following were fatal error or as the computer liked to call them "Install Pkg Error #2"

var/log/mount/slackware/gnome/gnumeric-1.2.0-i486-1.tgz
var/log/mount/slackware/gnome/gst-plugins-0.6.3-i486-2.tgz
var/log/mount/slackware/gnome/gstreamer-0.6.3-i486-2.tgz
var/log/mount/slackware/gnome/gthumb-2.1.6-i486-2.tgz
var/log/mount/slackware/gnome/gtk-engines-2.2.0-i486-2.tgz
var/log/mount/slackware/gnome/gucharmap-1.0.0-i486-2.tgz
var/log/mount/slackware/gnome/intltool-0.27.2-noarch-1.tgz
var/log/mount/slackware/gnome/libbonobo-2.4.0-noarch-1.tgz

Basically the rest of the Gnome install was like that. so what does that mean? could it be that during the download of the iso's something was botched and so I need to go out and re-download disk 2?

Also when I boot up I get a lot of kernel errors. they are moving to fast so I do not know how I am supposed to copy them down.

A lot of stuff failed for me during my first install but I managed to get a working system. If you have a base system running try this. Go to the appropreate directory on the installation CD (slackware/gnome/ for Gnome). You should see a script called install-packages. If you run that, a menu will come up on the screen and let you choose which packages to install. When you are done with the installation, run pkgtool again and choose the option about Slackware installation scripts to run again. In there select [I]xwmconfig[I] and you should be able to select Gnome as your default window manager. I hope it helps, helped me anyway. Funny thing is that I kicked Slack 9.1 off my machine to play a little with Mandrake 9.2. A week after I got bored with it and installed Slack 9.1 again without a problem at all...

When you need to review boot-up messages type
demesg | less
use pgup pgdn and cursor keys to scroll
