realtek 8723 wifi & Kernel 3.7.1

I have a new laptop. Loaded slackware64-current using Alien Bob's script to create an install disk

Everything went well until wifi... :(

The Wifi adapter is a Realtek [10ec:8723]

I can see the following in /lib/firmware/rtlwifi/rtl8723fw.bin

Should this not just work? lsmod doesn't appear to show anything related to this driver and modprobe says module not found.

There is a fn+F11 shortcut key to toggle the wifi on and off but there's no change in status.

Any idea's?

mud.

You are not alone. http://askubuntu.com/questions/13963...not-recognized You can try to obtain and build a driver.

Apparently native support for this device is in the 3.8 kernel. http://ircbots.debian.net/factoids/f...hp?key=rtl8723
