Question about XFCE with Slackware 12.1

If you want to have XFCE as your main desktop environment for slackware, you can just install XFCE and not KDE, correct?

Would you start xfce the same was as you would normally? (start x)

Thank you, and sorry for the newbie question ;)

Also, run xwmconfig to ensure the desktop environment you want is configured. If you run xwmconfig as root, then the desktop you select is the default desktop for all users. If you run as mortal user then the selection only affects the user.

One of the nice things about installing both KDE and XFce is that all of the KDE applications are available to use in the XFce menu.
XFce 4.4.2 is excellent:-)

I have only found one program that didn't work and that was the HP device manager. That has to do with kdebindings. I have not found other programs that have an issue.

I like KDE's printer set-up utility; I tend to invoke this command to set-up printers when I'm using XFce:

# kcmshell printers
