QT compiling errors

I upgraded to the 2.6.3 kernel and everything worked except sound, I got an error which I was earlier told was due to a bad driver. I decided to upgrade arts to see if that would work, upon running ./configure I was told my version of QT was too old, so I upgraded that too, But it still says that QT is too old, and that it cant find qt-mt, I checked /usr/lib and I can see it, I upgraded the /usr/lib/qt link so that it points to the new version, I also upgraded the link in /usr/local and ran ldconfig, but it still says its too old, how do I fix this?

--Thanks in advance, Austin

change into the directory you are trying to bulid arts from then run:

make distclean
./configure

it's reading config.cache & using old values
