Python-3.5.1 or Python-3.1.1

Trying to install python on Slackware 14.2 , there are two versions available in the slackbuild, which one is more popular or more stable?

ponce 04-19-2017 07:52 AM

Slackware 14.2 provides python-2.7.13 and there's only one version available on SBo for python-3.x, and it's 3.6.1.

i use this 3.6.1 version, without problem ;)

Can you link to the SlackBuild you're talking about?

Not sure why your links went to SlackBuilds to 14.1 and 13.0 then.

Here's what you should have done:

Go to this website:

https://www.slackbuilds.org/

Enter "python3" into the search box

Notice how the top hit is 3.6.1 for 14.2?

As dugan implied, you should only be building packages for the version of Slackware they're intended for. There is no testing to see if the 13.0 SlackBuilds will build on a 14.2 system.
