pure 64 versus multilib: issue with some software compilation

Hello,

Recently I was trying to compile an application that needs both gcc and gfortran compilers.
The odd thing is that everything went ok on a pure Slackware64-13.37 system, while on Slackware64 multilib the compilation spewed a number of complaints about undefined references.
Do you have an idea what the reason might be? I suppose it has something to do with the multilib glibc. Please tell me if you need more details.

did you have the multilib packages present? in this case sometimes libraries may be sought in the wrong place (/usr/lib in stead of /usr/lib64)
