/proc/last_kmsg missing in slackware 14.1?
Hi,
I am experiencing random full system freeze while in KDE and using applications that uses GTK++ (Firefox, libreoffice, among others). All the logs (syslog, messages,X) do not report any problems. However I want to check the kernel messages (kmsg) but as the system totally freezes I need to restart my pc. However with the new restart I loose the last kmsg and the file last_kmsg is not present in /proc/ How can I go around this? Thanks, Carlos. |
I seems a memory problem. Try memtest+.

I have a 64bits machine. Built and installed memtest+ from http://slackbuilds.org/repository/14...em/memtest86+/ but when Lilo tries to load the image the PC reboots.
Thanks, Carlos. |
memtest already comes into slackware installation disk. Try "memtest" at lilo cdrom boot prompt.

Open a terminal and run htop. Then try and create a stall and see if what processes are running and what your memory usage is. That will perhaps point you in the right direction.
