Problems with CD/DVD-ROM
I haven't used linux in years but I've decided to go back to it. I've installed a copy of Slackware 10 and most things worked fine automatically (except for the mouse wheel, sound, and networking, which required a bit of tweaking). But I seem to be having problems with my CD/DVD-ROM drives. They're both IDE and Slackware will recognize my DVD Burner fine (I haven't tried to burn anything yet, but everything else is working well). The problem is that the other CD Drive that is currently absolutely useless to me. I'm not sure how to go about making Slackware see the second CD drive, any ideas?
Thanks

Slackware is by default configured with one cd-drive.
i think all you need to do is make a mountpoint for it:
#mkdir /mnt/dvd ( can be any name.... )
and add a line to /etc/fstab :
/dev/hdd /mnt/dvd iso9660 noauto,user,ro 0 0
( i believe the installed cd-drive is /dev/hdc )
then see if it works with : #mount /mnt/dvd

That seems to work fine, the CD ROM will load fine now, and the DVD ROM is also working, however the CD ROM only loads data CDs. When I stick in an audio CD and try to load it, the error message reads, "mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hdd, or too many mounted file systems. Please check that the disk is entered correctly." Any ideas?
My fstab reads:
/dev/hda6 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/hda5 / reiserfs defaults 1 1
/dev/hda1 /winpri ntfs ro 1 0
/dev/hda7 /winlog vfat defaults 1 0
/dev/hdd /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,owner,ro 0 0
/dev/cdrom /mnt/dvd iso9660 noauto,owner,ro 0 0
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto noauto,owner 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
Cheers,
Hrafnin
EDIT: On a side note, my keyboard randomly doesn't seem to work. LILO takes the input to load into Linux fine, but once it loads up to the point where I have to enter my login info, I get no response from the keyboard. And it seems completely random, as I'll reboot and have no trouble the next time, or sometimes it will happen 3 or 4 times in a row before it works. Does that seem odd to anyone else?

you cannot mount a music cd, there's no filesystem on it.
if you want to copy the music to your hd, i think you'll need a cd-ripping program.

maybe batteries?
Do you get any messages about a tty respawning to fast in the logs or something? Because I had a problem close to that one where one of the ttyS0 was respawning to fast and locked my keyboard.
