problems with alsa

Hi, everything was fine, but i have tried to upgrade my four alsa*.tgz files to new alsa*.tgz files. And then there was no sound. When i tried to uninstall alsa packages and install old alsa packages, but there was no sound too.
What can i do?

If you are talking about alsa pkgs from the Slack repos, and if you are using a Slack provided kernel, then please make sure that the alsa pkg version matches your installed kernel and modules version. For example, alsa-driver-1.0.11_2.6.16.22-i486-1.tgz would go with kernel-generic-2.6.16.22-i486-1.tgz and kernel-modules-2.6.16.22-i486-1.tgz.

You also must run 'alsaconf' as root afterwards, too.
