Few days ago,I try to set password in X window's UI,and I found surprised that I couldn't type password after enter username"root",I tried every key on my keyboard, every one is useless except big Enter.
I'm a new Guy in Slackware L, maybe a fool question,please forgive me~
I recommend using CLI as much as possible with Slackware. GUI might work sometimes, but it is not guaranteed. The proper way to change passwords is by using the passwd command. If you log in as root, you can change root's password and for any other user, say:
passwd user1
Other non privileged users may only change their own password.
This is common to all UNIX systems, so it is worth knowing.
Its OK to be new to Linux with Slackware as you will learn more than the older users.

AlucardZero, you are right. I rebuild My Slackware L as same parameter as old one, I setup a new user and restart, then set a password and logout, and then try to input password without password echoed, entering!
And thanks ChrisAbela , I like Linux ,and I'm willing to join this big Family, I will trying more and more CLI
Thanks All of you!
