Unhappy Problems getting my Soundblaster Live to work with Analog Out

I have a Soundblaster Live! PCI card. By default, Slackware 9.1 uses digital out. But I want to use Analog headphones.

So I went into /etc/rc.d/rc.modules and uncommented the line:

Code:
# Sound Blaster Live support:
/sbin/modprobe emu10k1
This allows me to turn on analog sound, and hear out of my headphones, but causes nasty messages on start up talking about a device conflict, and the following nasty messages in my dmesg:

Code:
EMU10K1/Audigy soundcard not found or device busy
EMU10K1/Audigy soundcard not found or device busy
EMU10K1/Audigy soundcard not found or device busy
EMU10K1/Audigy soundcard not found or device busy
EMU10K1/Audigy soundcard not found or device busy
EMU10K1/Audigy soundcard not found or device busy
I think that it may be loading up the sound blaster module multiple times. Does anyone know how to fix this?

The full dmesg is below:

You are mixing 2 sound systems alsa and oss. You need to pick one or the other. Alsa is the default in Slack 10. OSS was the one we used up to 9.0 I believe. When you un commented the line in rc.modules did you read the header to that section.

### OSS Sound support ###
### (Old Sound System ;-)
