problem with swaret after a big upgrade

Hi... I've upgraded all my slackware packages using swaret after long time i didn't used the system, and now my swaret program itself isn't working. it doesnt find any packages; for example - to test it i did:
swaret --search kde
and it didn't find anything. it doesnt find ANY package. i'm afraid it's because i upgraded the swaret package too, to version 1.6.1, but i'm not sure.
ohh and i did copied my language file as asked.
please help me, coz slapt-get is not an option...
thx.

Did you 'swaret --update'? Also check your /etc/swaret.conf. Maybe KDE is excluded. Also 1.6.1 has a couple problems: one of the EXCLUDE lines reads 'EXCLUDE=EXCLUDE=(stuff here)'. Just remove the second EXCLUDE=. 1.6.1 also messes up the package file in /var/log/packages. If you look at /var/log/packages/swaret-1.6.1-noarch-1 you'll see that the first two columns are missing. It's easy to reinsert the missing letters so that way you can uninstall and upgrade swaret without any problems.

I've checked it all;
I did swaret --update,
I checked my /etc/swaret.conf
KDE isn't excluded, but maybe one of these are causing the problem? :
EXCLUDE=kernel
EXCLUDE=lilo swaret
EXCLUDE=MANIFEST.bz2$
EXCLUDE=.*dl$ .*PACKAGER$ .*MYBUILD$
anyway it doesn't find any package, i did alot of searches to test...
i dunno what to do...

Check:

VERSION=?

in the /etc/swaret.conf if it's at 9.1 and you want current, but you have 9.1 installed you shouldn't be updating anything.

EXCLUDE=MANIFEST.bz2$
EXCLUDE=.*dl$ .*PACKAGER$ .*MYBUILD$

I commented out the above lines because it looked like they might exclude what I was looking for. Also had to copy a language file to /etc. After that my upgraded swaret worked.

wow, it just happened to me a couple of days ago, and I've been trying to track this problem down too.

I've been uninstalling and re-installing swaret, and it's not working.

Sometimes the FILELIST.TXT it downloads has nothing in it (filesize = 0), and sometimes it only partially downloads the file. If I manually ftp to the sites, I see the whole file.

Another time, swaret put all of the packages on the excludes list.

as of now, i can't figure out what's wrong. Maybe the mirrors have changed something that broke swaret. (like i can't figure out why the filelist that's downloaded is never downloaded completely). If I download the files manually, it works sometimes
