Problem with starting CUPS in Slackware 10 (copy from the Software forum)

I have a problem with running CUPS in Slackware10 - I always get "The connection was refused when attempting to connect to localhost:631 (or 127.0.0.1:631)" - i couldn't write it properly here, because of forum restrictions about url addresses :[ .Kprinter from KDE doesn't work also - I always get message that it wasn't able to connect to CUPS server. I've tried different versions of CUPS (1.1.20-i486-1 from Slackware CD and 1.1.22-i486 from Slackware current). I hadn't installed LPR/LPRng (so it's obviously not conflict with it). The demon is working fine, it's listening at port 631 (netstat -nl|grep 631 ,then lsof -i:631). I had thought at first that it has something to do with firewall, so I disabled firewall (/etc/rc.d/chmod a-rx firewall.rc) and rebooted. Nothing happened - the same problem. Then I thought that the problem is connected somehow to the hosts.deny and hosts.allow files in /etc/ so I hashed the lines #ALL: ALL and #ALL: ALL: DENY respectively. Cups still not working. Do you have any clues? I need help.

Edit: I was advised to post here, rather than on software forum.Don't be to harsh for me, if it is not appropriate one.

Edit2: I set LogLevel to debug in cupsd.conf and here is what I have in /var/logs/cups/error_log:

Check your /etc/cups/cupsd.conf file to see if you're denying the connection from there.

Thank you for advice, but none of these eventually worked . I've double-checked cupsd.conf, and found nothing unusual:[ I'm in need to use printer desperately, so I've decided to reinstall Slackware, after few days of fruitless struggle to find out why CUPS isn't working. Now it works fine (despite active firewall and other tweaks I usually make). It will be a mystery for me then. Thanks again.
