problem with screen resolution

First of all my slackware setup doesn't have X installed so I'm wondering if there is a way to change the resolution for my non-X sessions. I've tried passing the
vga=XXX option during boot up which changes the resolution but the fonts remain fuzzy. Is there a way to have non-fuzzy fonts for any resolution?

thanks

You could change your console font with the setfont command
you choose a font in /usr/share/kbd/consolefonts

Code:
setfont sun12x22.psfu.gz

thanks

I tried out a few fonts but there still kinda fuzzy. I'm used to the default setting I get in FC4 with 1280x1024 resolution.
