Problem with mobile and USB

Hello,

I have a Samsung SGH-D600 mobile phone and have problems mounting it. The phone is connected via an USB cable and I thought I could mount to just like a normal USB stick to exchange data. Unfortunately the phone seems to have another filesystem, because the following commands both failed:

mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb
mount -t usbfs /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb
The first one didn't work at all and gave me the following error message:

The second one prints no error message, but I just have some strange files and folders like

does it really works e.g. under windows as an usb mass storage device?

Concerning the first mount command: what's the output of 'dmesg'?
maybe it is not recognized as /dev/sda1, perhaps it's like something else?

Unfortunately I couldn't try that so far. I use Linux exclusively and hadn't had the chance to try that under Windows. But it think it must be mountable somehow.

I don't think that's the problem. I never had problems mounting USB sticks that way. Thats the full output of dmesg:

It seems like it's not being recognized as a mass storage device and thus it can't be mounted that way

However it is recognized like some sort of modem

Thanks for your help. Yes, there is the possibility to use the phone as a modem for a PC. Maybe there's another way to connect to the phone and exchange data with it...
