problem with INIT File (not found) in Slack9 (2.4.20)

Hi,

Please,

I installed Slack9 (2.4.20) and all ok.
After, i removed it because i went change the partition table.
(i have p4 with Lilo: Slack9, FreeBSD5.1)
I reinstaled all (NOT FREEBSD YET!!! YET!... after problem resolved i install...). I remaked the partition table: ok. I runned 'setup', install all selected packges: All ok.
The setup says: "EXIT menu and CTRL+ALT+DEL". I did.

After reboot, its showed:

---------------
VFS: Mounted root (etx3 filesystem) readonly
Freeing unused kernel memory: 112k free
INIT: version 2.84 booting
INIT: no inittab file found

Enter Run Level:
-------------

I typed any number and the system show:

-------
INIT: no more process left in this run level

and system STOP! I need push POWER/REBOOT.

Please, anyone know this??
Tell me something about it??

>> the 1º time that i installed, he works 100%... 110%!! PERFECT!! .... but i didnt like the partition of partition table.
i delete all slack9 (rm -r -f *) (did bkps... ok)
Restart the sistem with Slack9 inst CD (2.4.20)

I rewrited the partition table (delete all - saved - write all again (but diferent) - saved): OK

Restart the sistem again whit CD again: OK

Runned setup:

Select swap: OK
Select the partitions and give yours labels ("/usr", "/home") + fromating
with 1node size: OK (no problems!!)
Installed lilo: IN UMB AREA: OK (nmo problems...)
Select all my favorite (packs) programs: OK (all did installed)

and the setup program say:

EXIT setup and CTRL+ALT+DEL

I did.

(in reboot, i inverted the boot sequenc: HD first... and remove the CD!)

LILO tell me which system i want (only Slack9 in the moment).
I select it.

The sistem look like well ... no problens ... when:
"ENTER THE **** RUN LEVEL: "

after it.... STOP.

that it.
sorry my shit inglish and
THANKS A LOT!!!

I cannot see from my chair, what is exactly going on in your computer. However, In my experience I know that this message means, that the kernel cannot find the proper files in / to continue booting.
Did you perhaps say root=/dev/somethingwrong to lilo?

hi georg9,

I installed lilo (at 'setup' program) as "simple lilo install" and in "UMB area".
When setup ask if i want enter with extra parameter to lilo.conf, i didn't enter with nothing.

The problem continues with bootdisk .

I created a '/etc' partition in partition table. May it be the problem???? /etc/inittab.....

these are the last line showed... i can say more lines echoed at startup... but the rest look likes well.

Thanks!!
