After doing a great deal of research, and almost pulling my hair out in the process, I decided to check the MInislack board on slackplanet.org for any new pkgs and found that they had one for grip. So I decided to install and test it to see if the Beep media player could play .mp3 files. Well, after installing it, I found that it could view the contents of my cdrom drive just fine! Not only that, it was also able to play the audio cd, and also went out to CDDB and downloaded/displayed the cd info!!!
After careful consideration, I have decided to use grip as my default music player/ripper as I believe the disconnect lies within Beep.
I'm still in the initial testing of this media player/ripper, so if I have any problems with it, I'm sure I will post back about it.
